RISE takes pride in training English and monolingual-Spanish speaking parents, caregivers, and families of LGBTQ+ youth.

The Supportive Families, Safe Homes training for caregivers uses activities and discussion to build foundational knowledge around healthy child development and the experiences of LGBTQ+ children and youth. Participants develop deeper levels of empathy and increase skills in supporting any LGBTQ+ or gender non-conforming children or youth who may be placed with them.

The Supportive Families, Safe Homes training is an excellent option for Foster Family Agencies (FFAs), Short Term Residential Treatment Programs (STRTPs), etc. seeking to meet the requirements of California’s Continuum of Care Reform (CCR) mandates regarding training for caregivers.

House in Hand

The training was life changing for me;

I truly was unaware of the need for appropriate homes for LGBTQ youth in [my] county. I am excited to share this information with other foster parents.
