This FREE, virtual training is provided monthly for caregivers and professionals who serve LGBTQ+ youth

Attendees will learn:
- Key concepts around sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression (SOGIE) and healthy childhood development milestones.
- To recognize and respond to barriers to permanency for LGBTQ+ children/youth.
- Their legal and professional responsibilities in regards to protecting the safety and well-being of LGBTQ+ children/youth.

What to expect: Featuring subject-matter experts, these coaching and technical assistance sessions will support systems assessment, case-specific consultation, implementation planning, and local policy development for youth-serving professionals. Attendees will also have opportunities to receive individualized support and participate in facilitated peer networking fostering reflection, troubleshooting, and shared learning.
Eligibility: Open to professionals who have attended a RISE training, workshop, or train-the-trainer course led by a RISE instructor.
When: Every 2nd Wednesday of the month, 12pm-1:30pm PT

*FREE* Training & Coaching Intensive (TCI) Train the Trainer: Sacramento/Central Valley Region

Get trained to deliver the RISE Foundational Training: Introductory Knowledge For Reducing Barriers To Permanency For LGBTQ+ Youth In Systems Of Care
RISE has developed the TCI program aka train the trainer (T4T) for potential and existing trainers, coaches, and subject matter experts or “holders” working for public and private agencies. This program focuses on the skills and knowledge needed to deliver the RISE Program’s evidence-informed core training on LGBTQ+ Preparedness but is highly adaptable for other sectors. The 5-day Intensive is based upon strengths-based, best practices for supporting LGBTQ+ youth, including principles for effective communication.
At the core of RISE training, is the belief that with skilled, thoughtful, and targeted interventions, LGBTQ+ youth can achieve permanency and positive outcomes in safe and loving homes. The Intensive is geared towards “Helping Professionals” including but not limited to: social workers, probation officers, clinicians, educators, and homeless services, amongst others.
Cost: Free. This training program is provided at no cost to California agencies working with youth in foster care and other systems.
When: Monday, August 17th – Friday August 21st
Where: Hosted by the Sacramento LGBT Community Center
Who: Professionals working with youth in the foster care system including but not limited to training faculty, social workers, McKinney Vento Liaisons, probation officers, clinicians, case managers, educators, and administrative support staff. Agencies are encouraged to send 2-3 staff to develop sustainable capacity.
Eligibility: Additional sessions will be held throughout the state including the San Diego, Los Angeles, and Superior regions. This session is for agencies in the Central Valley, Bay Area, and Superior Regions including Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Fresno, Inyo, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Sutter-Yuba (Joint Powers), Tulare, Tuolumne, and Yolo counties + Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma counties + Butte, Colusa, Del Norte, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mendocino, Modoc, Nevada, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties.
